What to wear for your family photo session :: KD Photography :: NJ Family and Wedding Photographer8/25/2021 Choosing what to wear can be really stressful - especially choosing for 2+ family members. Don't worry!! I am here to give you some tips to make this easier. Keep in mind that you want to coordinate the outfits - this is different than matching. Plan ahead - Give yourself enough time to choose the outfits. For some family members, you may need a back up! So bring at least 1 change of clothes if you think you may need it. Its easier to change than to edit all the photos you select. Coordinating colors, not matching - Select a color scheme and use hues that complement each other. That way you can achieve a more natural look. Try not to choose the same colors. You can always choose one outfit (that has multiple colors in it) and go off that - whether it be a dress, shirt, or accessory. Think of how your home is decorated - You’ll want to keep in mind your decor style. Since these photos will most likely be hanging in your home - make sure that the clothes you choose blends seamlessly with the colors of your home. Location of your photo shoot - Keep this in mind when choosing the hues of the clothes. Are you having a beach session? You'll want to choose neutral tones. Park session? You'll want to choose blue tones. Fall session with oranges and reds? You'll want to choose creams, browns, or a fall pattern to base the colors off of. You want your clothes to compliment the background - not compete with it.
Wear practical clothes - If you or a family member is wearing clothes that are uncomfortable, it will be a long session! Also, keep in mind the season/weather. Do your kids run around a lot? Don't put them in pants that wont let them be wild and free! You can always add accessories but try to wear something that wont be too distracting in the photos. Lay the outfits together - Before your session, lay out the outfits that you want everyone to wear and take a picture of it. That way you can tell if they work together or not! If you ever need help, please don't hesitate to ask! I am more than just your photographer! I hope this helps take some of the stress away. If all else fails - go to Pinterest for ideas!

You've been planning this day for quite some time now. Putting your energy into this one day. We've talked about the time line and what you want photographed - but what is going to happen during the day? Keep reading to see how your day will play out (there are times where we have to change a few things, but don't worry, I'll be there to make sure your day goes smoothly as possible!) Prep When I arrive, I like to start with detail photos. Your gown, shoes, jewelry, perfume, bouquet, etc. You spend so much time and money getting all the little things together that they deserve their time to shine! Once everyone is dressed, they will help you get your dress, shoes, and jewelry on. Be sure to eat and drink water (I know, I sounds like a Mom, what do you expect?!) It's going to be a long day and I just want to make sure everyone is okay. 1st look I love doing first looks, it is your 1st intimate time before you two say "I Do!" This part is all you and your almost Husband! We talk about he is going to turn around but the rest is all you! This typically lasts about 10 minutes - then we go on to the bridal and family photos. I like to schedule them before the ceremony so you two can enjoy your cocktail hour. Ceremony We'll arrive before your ceremony starts to get the details. All you have to worry about is saying your "I Do's!" We'll capture everything from when you get there till when you exit the ceremony space! From then, we will be going to the reception space to start photographing there. Bridal Party & Family Photos The bridal and family photos are typically done after the first look. Both normally last about 15-20 minutes. First, we'll get the whole bridal party together and then we'll separate the sides to photograph each party. Then, we'll get the families together. We'll have a list so we make sure no one is missed! Cocktail Hour Before your guests enter, we get the details in the reception space. This is another favorite time of the day - because this is when the party starts! All the planning and stressing (Yes, it's true. And if you're reading this, please take time for yourself to chill!) is done and now its finally time to have fun (not that we weren't already!) Reception It all starts when your bridal party enters! Then all eyes on the newlyweds! First dance, parent dances, then let the party begin! We'll be there to capture everything. From cake cutting to all the break dancing! If you decide to, we'll go out when the sun is setting to get a few more photos of you and your husband/wife! After that, we are pretty much done for the day. It will be a long day, but we will have so much fun!
Amber did an amazing job planning their day and the weather couldn't have been any better! The golden light after their ceremony was beautiful for their formal photos. They danced the night away with their friends and family and ended with sparklers! I wish them all the best in their next chapter!
One of my best friends is finally marrying the man of her dreams! I have known Samantha and Jarrett since high school so when she asked me to photograph their wedding I was so excited! Yes there were some tears but all happy tears! As soon as I got there, I could feel the love in the air. All their planning has finally paid off for this one day. I wish them all the best in their next chapter!
Noel is best friends with Jessica (who makes all of our cakes!!) So I was excited when she first messaged me saying she wanted me to photograph her wedding. The day started out at Noel's house then we ended up in Beachwood for their first look. Tim was so nervous but quickly calmed down when he saw his Bride! We had some fun on the dock with their bridal party. Their ceremony was at the same venue as their reception - which is always a plus! The weather could not be any better! Sunny and warm for September. The details were rustic but classic. Everyone had such a great time - thank you for letting me capture this new chapter in your life!
The day for Gina and Steve's engagement session was amazing! It was the perfect weather and a beautiful sunset. I was even more excited to be by the water - it is such a different vibe there! Their connection was very loving and it came through the photos.
This was the first year I did Mother's Day minis and I absolutely loved them! We all met at Deep Cut Gardens and it was such a great day. The weather was perfect and I loved seeing Mommas and their babies! Here are a few from each session.
Our families have become close over the past year so I was excited when they asked me to take some photos. It was such a beautiful day - not too cold, the sun was shining, and the colors were perfect! These three make such a cute family - you can really feel how much they love each other.
Madison's First Birthday :: Cake Smash :: NJ Lifestyle Photographer :: Krista Marie Photography11/17/2016 I had a blast photographing this little peanut for her first birthday! Cake smash sessions have to be one of my favorite - because for a moment, they get to just have fun and get cake every where - how could you not love that?! I love the theme that her parents chose - Winter ONEderland! I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I did taking them. Happy First Birthday Maddie!
I was so excited when this album arrived! It was a gift for my husband but I wanted to show my loveys some of our products. There are numerous possibilities with the cover, anything from luxurious leathers to woven cloths. The albums are produced using archival inks and acid free papers so they are created to last! The pages are handcrafted using a 1/4" thick moisture resistant, acid free, warp-free boards. Our albums are such a great way to remember those precious moments for years to come!
